Over 150 Somali migrants in Libyan prisons have successfully been returned back to the country today on Wednesday after the Somali Federal Government and United Nations’ Migration Agency jointly worked together to the release and return of these youth, SONNA reported.
Somali Ambassador to European Union, H.E. Ali Sa’id Faqi told reporters that they have released these youth from different prisons in several regions in Libya, saying they registered 300 people willing to be taken to Somalia.
“We have brought 151 migrants from Libya successfully this morning after two weeks of efforts to collect them from different prisons, they are pleased to arrive in their mother land, The Federal Government and IOM did their best to bring our nationals home”, Mr. Faqi said.
This is the third batch from Libya where hundreds of Somali youth are facing very terrible conditions according to the officials and migrants.
