the United States condemns in the strongest terms the February 28 terrorist attacks
in Mogadishu. We commend the heroic actions of the Somali security forces and
first res-ponders who unselfishly put themselves in harm’s way to repel the
attackers and provide care to the trapped and wounded saving many lives. We
extend our sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the victims who
were killed or injured.
Al-Shabaab has yet again demonstrated that it has no regard for the Somali people
and has one goal – to prevent progress towards peace and prosperity in Somalia.
The United States affirms its strong commitment to the people of Somalia and to
the Somali government and to assist international collective efforts to build a
stronger and prosperous Somalia that offers a brighter future for its people.t
