Minister of Information Culture and Tourism, H.E Osman Dubbe has today signed Memorandum of understanding (MoU) the with Chinese ambassador to Somalia H.E Fei Shengchoa after colorful event held in Mogadishu’s National Theater.
The MoU outlined several pilot projects about repairing and equipping Radio Mogadishu, National Theater and Somali National News Agency SONNA.
During the signing ceremony the Somalia’s Waberi band have sung Chinese song.
In his remarks, the minister of information said that the MoU was initial for two countries’ bilateral relations and paved the way for further cooperation in the future.
“Really, this MoU is starting point for further cooperation between Somalia and China, the pilot projects like repairing Radio Mogadishu studios, lighting and sounding system of National Theater and SONNA related issues”, said the Minister.
The National Theater was built by Chinese engineers in 1967, but it was among the key government institutions damaged during the civil war. Somalia and China have established their diplomatic relationship December 14, 1960.
