Speaking at the ceremony, H.E Mohamed Mursal the speaker of house of the people noted the importance of election expedite and he encouraged the National Consultative council to speed up electoral process to avoid further delay.

He hinted that the September 17 agreement stated that the period of election was 2020/2021 but now that timeline mentions that agreement just remaining with six days only.

During his remarks, Speaker Mursal also highlighted the current administration will keep its position until other institutions will elect and come in on the bases of law number 30 which states that all constitutional agencies will be staying in their offices unless the new ones come in.

“The expedition of the election is important for security, economic and the harmony of the Somali people’s lives, we are proposing that the federal government of Somali and its federal member states, who the responsibility for holding indirect elections, they have to save the country from further electoral delay,” said the Mursal.

On his side, president of federal government of Somalia H.E Mohamed Farmajo who took the podium and closed the event further talked about the significance of the Somali Police in this country more specially the security which he said is the fundamental of every development of any aspects of Somalia.

President Farmajo also emphasized the significance of the September 17 electoral agreement which is based on the ongoing indirect electoral process and warned against any change subjected to that agreement.

“The September 17 agreement is a law and already in place and I have signed. I hope not to change anything and move forward on it, if a disagreement occurs, resolve it with a mindful manner because this agreement is the electoral principle,” said President Farmajo.

“The September 17 agreement is hardly thought of and works; therefore, it should be very careful to make some changes in it”, He added.

In his speech, president Farmajo commended the ongoing electoral process, and argued that indirect election itself based on something like gentlemen agreement, therefore, anything that happens within this process people should come over with discussion and consensus.
