Today, the Federal Government of Somalia concluded the inaugural Somalia Transition Plan Strategic Steering Committee (SCC) in Mogadishu. The ONS chaired the two days consultative meetings with the Federal Member States, Benadir Regional Administration, the Somali Security Forces and Somalia’s key partners supporting the security sector of Somalia.
After constructive dialogue between the Federal Government of Somalia’s key Ministries, representatives of the Federal Member States, Benadir Regional Administration and Somali Security Forces, the SSC secretariat reached an agreement on the mandate of the SSC secretariat.
The Federal Member States and BRA, including all FGS ministries and Somali Security Forces, emphasised the need to accelerate the process for increased coordination in a transparent and efficient manner to ensure that there are adequate resources to deliver the STP actions successfully.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defence, Minister of Justice, Deputy Minister of Finance, Minister of Internal Security, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister, Chief of Defence Forces and Police commissioner endorsed the key decisions that were reached by the SSC secretariat on the agreed priorities of the STP for the next quarter.
The Federal Government of Somalia welcomes the participation of Somalia’s key security partners at the closing session and appreciated their commitment to support Somalia’s principal security strategy.
