Commissioner of the Somali Police Force, Major General Abdi Hassan Mohamed has on Thursday ordered forces to stay aside from politics after holding a meeting with senior officers from the police, RM reported.
He underlined that the forces should perform their duty in accordance with the law.
Mr. Mohamed emphasized that the responsibility of the police force is to keep the security of the election, and work for social security and be close to the people which they are serving.
“It is not up to us to shape and delegate the politics of the country, what’s up to us is the security, I want to say to you who are sitting infront of me and entire forces in the states and Mogadishu as well, must take the security responsibility of the elections,” said the police commissioner.
He noted that the police force should stay away from politics and where it is being discussed.
The Somali police chief, has acknowledged the role of the forces for the safety and security of the public and called them to have empathy for the people during their daily security operations within the city and elsewhere in the country.
